ATEEZ TITLE TRACK RANKING

Since Ateez had a comeback recently, I want to rank their title tracks as they are one of my favorite 4th gen groups. They are such incredible performers, it's hard to believe they are still a pretty young group. Ateez is one of the groups that I'm a fan of because of their performance, not necessarily because of their songs even though they do have some pretty solid songs. I will be including songs in comebacks where they have double title tracks too.

These are just my subjective opinions so you can respectfully disagree. I don’t have background knowledge in music, I am just someone who enjoys music and doing this just for fun. I also didn’t take into account the lyrics in the songs as I am someone who can enjoy music without knowing the meaning of the songs and I don’t understand Korean. Without further ado, I will start ranking Ateez title tracks.

16. Treasure

Jongho's vocals in the chorus really saved this song for me, this is probably the only element I truly enjoy in the song. I can't really explain why I don't like this song, I guess it's pretty disorienting and the transitions are not done very well. I'm still not used to this song even after multiple listens.

15. The Real

The music video and the song are really fun and I love the rap verses in this song. This type of noisy hype song is typically not my favorite genre to listen to and I think it could've been executed better. I love how they incorporated traditional Korean instruments in the song.

14. Illusion

I love the visuals for this music video. A really fun song, I just don't find myself wanting to listen to this song. I don't really enjoy the use of auto tune in this song, I do think it fits the song, but I personally don't enjoy too much auto tune.

13. Eternal Sunshine

It's nice seeing Ateez doing a softer/cuter concept. I think it's a nice song to listen to on a trip, I just found that I got bored of this song pretty quickly. I still enjoy the song if I listen to it sparingly though.

12. Pirate King

This is a really solid debut, it shows their signature intensity really well. I think they all did really well in this song. I surprisingly enjoyed the empty chorus drop, I think this song was just produced really well.

11. Thanxx

Another great hype song from Ateez. The vocals, the rap verses, the instrumentals are all really good. I think the use of auto tune was really nice too and not overdone. I think this song fits better as the main title track for Ateez.

10. Say My Name

This era of Ateez music is just incredible, the album has no bad song. I love the instrumentals of this song and the rap parts. I love the softer bridge with the piano instrumentals. I think the drop in the chorus is really well done.

9. Wave

A well done catchy feel-good song. I love the vocals, the rap and the instrumentals are also really nice. I'm happy that they got their first music show win with Wave. Like Eternal Sunshine, I find that I get bored of the song pretty quickly, though not as quickly as with Eternal Sunshine.

8. Turbulence

Another song that I don't expect from Ateez as it's softer and more vocal heavy. I think the all did a great job with the vocals. I don't think I can compliment Jongho's vocals enough. He is truly one of the strongest vocalist in 4th gen.

7. I'm the One

This is a pretty catchy song, I love the build up from San's whispering vocals in the first verse to Mingi's intense rap verse to the intense chorus drops. I don't usually like songs that have a chorus for a drop (even though that's how the majority of Ateez's discography is like), but I do think this build up is one of the most well done for this type of song. Of course I have to mention that I love Jongho's adlibs in the last chorus.

6. Inception

This genre of song is typically the ones I prefer as it's more vocal heavy. It's a really nice song even though it doesn't really show the usual intensity Ateez usually has in their songs and performances. I love the bass riffs in the post chorus. I think the members did a great job on the vocals.

5. Guerilla

I love how Ateez went back to their really intense sound this comeback, I really miss this from them. I love Hongjoong starting Ateez songs as it builds up the intensity immediately. Jongho's incredibly powerful vocals makes me like this song more. I like how the rap verses for this song are pretty long, Hongjoong and Mingi did a phenomenal job. It's interesting that they incorporated metal scream into the song, it adds a lot of interesting character to the song. I wonder who did the metal screams.

4. Deja Vu

This is a really catchy song. I love seeing Ateez doing a more sexy concept. I love how this song has a simpler instrumental with not too many layers. I love what they did with Jongho's faux belt adlib in the bridge which was then resolved in the final chorus. I also really like how they ended the song with raps from Mingi and Hongjoong, it's different from their usual pattern.

3. Hala Hala

I love how the song starts softly and the build up comes in the really nice pre-chorus then goes to the drop in the chorus and goes back to soft again in the second verse. I love the simplistic instrumentals with not too many layers in the song, I think the producers did a great job.

2. Wonderland

This is the first Ateez song I heard. They really blew up this era and that's how I discovered them, it makes them really stand out from other boy groups. I love this song so much even though it's not the typical type of song that I enjoy listening to. I really enjoy the marching band sounds in the instrumentals. This song is just really well made, the instrumentals and the intensity is just perfect. This song deserves all the hype it gets.

1. Answer

This song is the perfect combination of intensity and nice melodic vocals. I love how the chorus is really long, it makes the song really satisfying to listen to. I love how they used violins in the instrumentals. I love how the second chorus, bridge and final chorus blend together so well. I have to praise Jongho's vocals once again because I'll never get over it.

Ateez is easily one of my favorite 4th gen boy group. They really stand out in an amazing way. The fact that they came from a small company baffles me as they are all so talented and the production of their music and music videos are really good. Let's all support their latest comeback with Guerilla!
