DREAMCATCHER PLASTIC SURGERY ANALYSIS
After ranking title tracks of my top two K-pop groups, I want to write about something else to keep things interesting, I will definitely be ranking the title tracks of Seventeen and some other groups that I like though. For now, I decided to try to analyze the Dreamcatcher members' possible plastic surgery procedures. This post is inspired by Lorry Hill's videos on Youtube who analyzes celebrities looks to see if they possible have gone under the knife. Same with Lorry Hill, I think plastic surgery is not bad nor good. Celebrities have immense pressure to look the best as they possibly can, which can be helped by plastic surgery. I think it will be a healthier environment if celebrities (not just K-pop celebrities) are more open about the plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures they’ve done or at least not lie about it (saw a lot of celebrities on Lorry Hill’s video possibly lying about their surgeries) so the general public can see that beauty is attainable through plastic surgery. I will definitely make a post for Monsta X and Seventeen possible plastic surgery procedures in the future too.

plastic surgery, so my knowledge in this area is limited (my knowledge mostly comes from Youtube really). These are just
my personal opinions and not facts so you can respectfully disagree. This post is not meant for fuel to send hate to the
girls as they are probably pressured by the industry they’re in to look as good
as they possible can. There’s also not a lot of pre-debut photos for many of the
members and the some of the photos available are blurry or very far away or cropped,
so my judgement can be very wrong. With that out of the way, I’ll start with my
analysis
JIU
The high school photos we have of Jiu are uploaded by her high school friend who
was considerate enough to crop her photos as they don’t want to make her uncomfortable
about her past photos being revealed. Since I don't have a good reference picture of how she looked like before debut, I might've missed some procedures. The way they cropped the photos can be assumed that the high school friend saw how Jiu's eyes and nose have changed compared to how they remembered her and how she looks in the yearbook photo. This made me suspect that she had plastic surgery to change her eyes and nose.
Jiu's Highschool Photos
We can see the corner of her eye in the photo where she is holding her waist, her double eyelids are not present there, but it can be unreliable as she may be squinting due to the sun. Other than these two photos, we also have some of her baby photos.
Jiu's Baby Photos
We can see that her eyes were small when she was a baby, but Jiu's perceived eye size is larger in her recent photos. The natural progression of perceived eye size as babies grow up is that their eyes get smaller as they age. I used to have huge eyes when I was a baby/toddler, but now I would say I have average sized eyes. Therefore, I think it's pretty likely Jiu got double eyelid surgery to make her eyes larger vertically. Jiu's eyes in the baby photos also looked horizontally narrow, in recent photos her eyes look larger horizontally as indicated by the black lines below. I think it's possible she got her inner and outer corner cut to make the eyes appear wider. Her nose current nose also has a very distinct bridge, unlike her baby photos (but we should note that noses do get larger/taller as babies age).
Baby Jiu vs. Recent Jiu
I heard a possible sign of eyelid surgery is having a very clear eyelid crease, like how she has now even when she is looking down or when her eyes are not fully open which can be seen in the photo below. In her recent photos shown below and above, we can see her nose looks very straight and there is a clear line visible on the bridge of her nose. The clear line may indicate she got a nose implant, but there is no predebut photos where she is old enough for her nose to have grown more to verify this, so this is just based on my judgement of signs of plastic surgery that can manifest itself on someone who went under the knife
I also notice during Minx Jiu used to have fuller cheeks, but in Dreamcatcher her cheeks became more slender. This could be just due to weight loss but I don't think she lost that much weight in that time frame. It's also possible that the changes I see are purely due to her losing her baby fat. It's also a possibility that she got some of her buccal fat removed. The changes in her cheeks might also be caused by cheekbone reduction as her current face looks less wide than before. It looks like she already got her eye surgery and rhinoplasty before she debuted in Minx.
Minx Jiu vs. Recent Jiu
In conclusion, I think Jiu got double eyelid surgery, inner and outer corner cut and rhinoplasty before debuting in Minx. I think it's also a possibility that she got some of her buccal fat removed or did a cheekbone reduction before debuting in Dreamcatcher. Surgery or not, Jiu is still very beautiful inside and out. I love her positive outlook on life, I think we all can learn from her and incorporate that aspect in our own lives.
SUA
I can only find one baby photo of Sua the rest are photos from high school and Minx. At high school age, she might've already gotten plastic surgery so there may be possible procedures that I missed. It seems like Sua got a rhinoplasty, her nose was on the taller and larger side to begin with, the rhinoplasty made the bridge and the tip of her nose slimmer. The outer corners of her eyes also look different in her high school compared with Minx and recent photos. Her outer corners used to be tilted upwards and her eyes looked horizontally more narrow. While currently her outer corners are more straight and we can see the whites of her eyes more. I'm not too sure about the outer corner cut procedure though, it might just be make up. She might've also gotten slight cheekbone reduction, we can see the upper part of her cheeks used to be wider and more pronounced.
High School Sua vs. Recent Sua
Sua had monolids when she was a child, but she had slight double eyelids during high school and Minx. She probably got double eyelid surgery before those year book photos were taken. One indicator of eyelid surgery is the shorter distance between eye and eyebrow, we can see that the distance between her eye and eyebrow is shorter now compared to when she was a baby. Comparing her Minx with current photos, her eyelids look to be larger, but I think this change is natural. She probably trained her eyelids using eyelid tape so the crease is higher. She also used to wear pretty thick eyeliner on her upper eyelid which can make her eyelids appear smaller. She also probably got some filler on her top and bottom lip. In the photo progression below, you can also see how her nose bridge looks a lot thinner and her nose tip is slightly longer in recent photos, suggesting she got a nose implant before debuting in Dreamcatcher. The picture below also show her cheekbones being less wide and less pronounced that before.
Baby Sua vs. Minx Sua vs. Recent Sua
In conclusion, I think Sua got double eyelid surgery before debuting in Minx, and then got rhinoplasty, filler to upper and lower lip and cheekbone reduction before debuting in Dreamcatcher. She also possibly got an outer corner cut before debuting in Minx. Her surgeries were done really well, the surgeries she did enhanced her natural beauty very well. I thought she looked natural before seeing her pre-debut photos. Surgery or not she looks beautiful, I love her fun and loud personality, she should be invited to more variety shows.
SIYEON
It's so difficult to find Siyeon's pre-debut photos, the photos below are the only ones I could find (side note: look at how adorable she was).
Pre-debut Siyeon
Other than these, I will also use her Minx photos which means at that point she might've already gotten plastic surgery so there may be possible procedures that I missed. It seems like she got a rhinoplasty, she got an implant on her nose to make it slightly taller and make the tip sharper. Her current nose looks a lot more straight that her nose in the predebut photo below. This surgery is really well done, her nose fits her face very well. She also likely got double eyelid surgery as the space between her eye and eyebrow became shorter in her recent photos. Her eyes are naturally not small, so we don't see a dramatic change. I do think she got double eyelid surgery before debuting in Dreamcatcher as during Minx, she didn't have a prominent crease line like how she currently does.
Pre-debut Siyeon vs. Recent Siyeon
I think the most obvious procedure she did was having filler on her upper and lower lips, this is because she filled her lips with a lot of filler, unlike Sua who opted for a more subtle look. I think she started filling her lips around What and Piri era. Her current lips look great and I think it really suits her. She also likely got a chin implant to make her chin look pointier and to bring it forward, she likely did this while promoting in Dreamcatcher.
Minx Siyeon vs. Recent Siyeon
Same with Jiu, when Siyeon is looking down or when her eyes are not fully open, you can see a clear line on her crease; which is a possible sign of plastic surgery.
She might've gotten cheekbone reduction surgery, which she most likely got when she is already promoting as Dreamcatcher. Her cheekbones became slightly less wide and flatter. She still kept some essence of her old cheekbones so it enhances her beauty nicely instead of trying to completely change her face.

In conclusion, I think Siyeon got double eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, filler to her upper and lower lip, chin implant and cheekbone reduction while promoting in Dreamcatcher. I think her new look makes her look very fierce and intense, I think it also increased her confidence which we can see in her insanely good stage presence. Her stage presence and confidence is just so attractive.
HANDONG
It was very difficult to find photos of pre-debut Handong when she's younger, most pre-debut Handong photos are when she is already old enough to get plastic surgery, so it's very possible I missed some procedures. That being said, I think it's pretty clear that she got a rhinoplasty, she got a nose implant to make her nose bridge taller. I think she naturally had a thinner nose to begin with which is why her nose looks very thin with the implant. She most likely already had a rhinoplasty in her pre-debut photos. You can see the implant in many photos, pre-debut and recent.
Pre-debut Handong vs. Recent Handong
Her pre-debut eyelids compared to her recent eyelids are also slightly different, her current eyelid crease sits higher, the distance between her eye and eyebrow also became shorter in her recent pictures (which is a possible sign of eyelid surgery). But I it's also possible that her eyelids are natural as the height of the crease is not always consistent. Her eyelids in the center picture is smaller than in the picture on the right even though these photos are probably taken days apart. It's probable that she trains her eyelids to fold higher using eyelid tape. But she might've just gotten a subtle eyelid surgery that doesn't leave a clear line on the crease, so I'm still unsure about her eyes. Her lips look slightly fuller in her recent photos, so she probably got subtle fillers on her top and bottom lip.

In conclusion, I think Handong got a rhinoplasty, filler to her top and bottom lip and possibly eyelid surgery before debuting in Dreamcatcher. She looks so beautiful with or without surgery, but I do think her rhinoplasty might've been unnecessary as her nose now looks over-projected. She still looks beautiful regardless. I love how despite looking like an ice princess, she has an unexpected side of her (like how physically strong she is, that Dreamcatcher Mind episode makes me laugh every single time).
YOOHYEON
It was very difficult to find photos of pre-debut Yoohyeon when she's younger, most pre-debut Yoohyeon photos are taken in high school, when she is already old enough to get plastic surgery. So it's very possible I missed some procedures. With that being said, I think it's pretty obvious that she got double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty. She used to have monolids and her eyes were on the smaller side, now her eyes are pretty round. She also likely did inner corner cut as her current eyes seem to be proportionally larger horizontally, but I'm very unsure about the inner corner cut as there is no evidence to prove it.
I cannot find a pre-debut photo of Yoohyeon that proves that her nose changed, but comparing her baby photos to her nose now, her current nose is over-projected given the proportions of her face, so I came to the conclusion that she most likely got a nose implant. Maybe her natural nose is already pretty tall to begin with, but she decided to get a nose implant (I don't know if she did it at her own accord or she was pressured to do this). Since her nose is over-projected, her nose ended up being quite upturned. You can also see the straight lines on the bridge of her nose, which to me looks like implant.
Recent Yoohyeon
Yoohyeon has plump lips, since there is not enough pre-debut photo to judge, I will just use her highschool photo (she already got her rhinoplasty and double eyelid surgery here) to see if she had lip fillers (as in that time frame, thick lips are not really a beauty standard in South Korea). It looks like her lips are natural, she is pursing her lips together slightly in her high school photo, so I came to the conclusion that her lips are natural.
Highschool Yoohyeon vs Recent Yoohyeon
In conclusion, I think Yoohyeon got a rhinoplasty, double eyelid surgery and possible inner corner cut before debuting in Minx. Like Handong, I think it would be better if she opted for a less aggressive nose implant, I hope she personally chose to do this for herself and wasn't pressured to do it by her company/other external factors. She looks beautiful, I love how she tries her hardest to learn new languages to be able to communicate with insomnias. I can tell she is a very hard-working person, I hope she knows Insomnias really appreciate her hard work.
DAMI
After having a difficult time of finding Dreamcatcher members' pre-debut photos, finding that Dami has a lot of pre-debut content out there is such a relief as I spent way too much time on the internet to find the other members' clear and useable pre-debut photos for comparison. The biggest difference on her face is her eyes, she used to have monolids, now she has double eyelids. The space between her eye and eyebrow also became smaller in recent photos. Her eyes have always been horizontally large, her eyes look wider in recent photos but I personally think it looks that way because of makeup. Her lips look thicker in the recent photo below, but I think that is just caused by overlining her lips. She also likely got a forehead implant to make her forehead look rounder.
We can see in another recent photo, where her lips are not overlined, that her lips look the same as it did during predebut. Her eyes also look to be of similar width as on her predebut photo above, solidifying my belief that she didn't get her inner or outer corner cut and lip fillers.
I also see some changes on her nose. In the pre-debut photo below, Dami's nose tip look to be hanging lower than it does in her recent photos. She might've gotten a slight nose lift to make her nose look less droopy in side profile view. The height and width of her nose looks to be the same though, so I think she only got a nose lift.
Pre-debut Dami vs Recent Dami
In conclusion, I think Dami got double eyelid surgery, forehead implant and nose lift before debuting in Minx. So far she is the member with the least possible procedures. She looks beautiful during pre-debut and now. I'm glad that Dami didn't feel the need to change too much despite the pressure for her to look as best as she possibly can. She is such a cool performer with an equally cool personality. I love how talented she is not only in rapping, but also singing.
GAHYEON
Like Dami, Gahyeon also has a lot of clear pre-debut photos online. She looked adorable and I don't see much changes to her face at all.

I think the biggest change to her face is her lips, recently I noticed she started to fill her upper and lower lips using filler. Both her upper and lower lips have a lot more volume now, compared to her naturally thin lips. Her face also got slimmer, but I'm pretty sure it's due to weight loss, she lost a lot of weight since Piri era and her cheeks got slimmer as she lost weight.
Recent Gahyeon
Well, writing this post took a surprisingly long time. I hope anyone reading this takes this post in a positive way and realize that plastic surgery is not a bad thing. We need to understand that K-pop idols and other celebrities have a lot of pressure to look good and it's not a bad thing for them to resort to plastic surgery as that is what is demanded by society. I love the Dreamcatcher members' so much and I think they're all beautiful and talented, as I stated in the beginning this is not fuel to send hate towards the members. For all we know it's likely that most K-pop idols have gotten plastic surgery anyway, we shouldn't stigmatize this topic.
